its a secret=)

BUT… Mr.Mayo is MAKING me do an outline. So the outline of our story is someone goes to a new, very different, school and he gets bullied.

1.THEME
Don’t blurt out your theme! Let it emerge from the story.

Avoid Preaching. Childrens book should NOT be sunday school lessons.

2.PLOT
Plot is normally built around a conflict involvingthe main character-for instance another character, or with circumstances, or within him.

A story may succeed without a conflict-excpecially if your childrens book is for preschoolers.

3. STORY STRUCTURE
At the beginning of your story, jump right into the action. At the end of your story, bring it to a prompt close.

Keep your structure as simple as possible.

4.CHARACTERS

Before you start to write your children’s book know your characters really well.

Identify your characters with one or more telling details.

5.SETTING

Set your story in a place and time that will be interesting o familiar.

6.STYLE AND TONE

Write simple and direct.

Use Dialog wherever possible. Use direct quotes instead of inderect. (example: “Go Away!” instead of “He told her to go away.”)

THE STRONGEST CHILDREN’S STORIES HAVE WELL-DEVELOPED THEMES, ENGAGING PLOTS, SUITABLE STRUCTURE, MEMORABLE CHARACTERS, WELL-CHOSEN SETTINGS, AND ATTRACTIVE STYLE. FOR BEST RESULTS, BUILD STRENGTH IN ALL AREAS.

Chapters 5 is about how Kino did not sell the pearl. Juana knew that it was going to bring them danger so she wanted to through the pearl back in the water. But, Kino didnt want to. So during the night, Juana got up and tried to through the pearl into the water. Kino had heard her. Kino had ran after and started to beat her. Juana saw the anger in his eyes. After that random people started to attack Kino for his pearl. They knew they had to leave. They set their house on fire and went to Kinos brothers house. Kinos brother told the rest of the town that they had left.

Chapter 6 is about the families journey. They started they trail north trying to avoid the town. While they walked they tried to make their tracks go away. They stopped and made a shelter. While they were using their shelter some trackers were walking through the woods, Kino was ready to attack them. They had looked like they were coming straight for them but then they turned and went away. While they were walking, tey got attacked and they blew Coyotitos head off.

Question

I think that Kino really loves Juana but didnt want her to be in danger. So Kino had told her to go back with Coyotito.

Well Mr.Mayo said that we are going to get paired up with the kids in Colorado. So, instead of penpals it’s web blog buddies. We are supposed to answer one question out of three. I picked, to write about what style of writing il ike to write the most. I absoulety LOVE to wrtie creative writings. I love when we do freewrites about anything we want to. I mostly write about kids/teenagers. For example my second freewrite (freewrite) is like my favortie thing to write about. Also, i love to relate storys to what has been happening to me in real life.

My favorite genres are realistic fiction, suspence and comedy.

A really good book is Dont You Dare Read This Mrs.Dunphrey. Here is a Summary..
Summary:

In the book Don’t You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey , by Margaret Peterson Haddix, Tish Bonner has to write in a journal for her English class. At first she thought the assignment was a drag, but eventually it was the only friend she could turn to. Tish puts the heading “Don’t you dare read” or “Don’t Read” on the top of her journals and her teacher agreed to only check to see if she was writing without reading the journals.

Tish’s father was never around. He leaves for months, sometimes years before he return to only fight with her mother and spend her mothers money and then leave again. Tish would rather her father leave for good. Tish’s mother is a basket case and goes into a depression every time Tish’s father leaves town. Due to Tish’s mother’s lack of sanity she neglects both Tish and Tish’s younger brother Matt. Tish does her best to take care of her brother Matt by working at a Burger Boy restaurant.

Tish’s Mother eventually leaves both Tish and Matt to go find their father in California. Leaving the kids with nothing, no money or food. Tish is afraid of being separated from her brother, so she doesn’t tell any adults about her mother leaving them and tries to take on all the responsibilities herself. When Tish gets fired from the Burger Boy and is unable to find another job she realizes she is unable to take care of Matt and herself so then she turns to her English teacher. She told her teacher to read all the entries she had previously written the heading “Don’t read” on, which told about her situation at home. With the teacher’s help Tish and Matt were reunited with their mother and grandparents they had never met before who took them in and cared for them.

Lottery

This article was very funny to me. It was about lottery winners.  And how the lottery ruined their life. One guy named William “Bud” Post’s brother even hired a hit-man to try to kill him. So, maybe his brother would inherit the money. Also a former girlfriend of Williams successfully sued him for a share of his winnings. Know William lives off food stamps and is bankrupt. Ken Proxmire was a machinist when he won 1 million dollars in the Michigan lottery. After he won the lottery he moved to CALIFORNIA and went into the car buisness with his brothers. Within F-I-V-E years he was filled for bankrupt.

After we summarize the article we are supposed to make a predicition about the third chapter in The Pearl. I think that in the third chapter of the pearl Kino will become a rich man because he found the pearl.  But, because you are telling us to connect with the article and the article is about peoples life being ruined, then I think Kino will lose the pearl. I think he will drop it back into the water or Coyotito will eat it. Maybe Coyotito will think its food.

THE PEARL <— actual real authentic sparknotes summary of chapter 3  =]

The lottery relates to the pearl because finding the pearl (in Kinos life) is like the lottery. Everybody suddenly heard of Kino. They knew who Kino was. All of the shopkeepers wanted Kino to buy stuff. Every poor person/ begger wanted some money. And all of a sudden the doctor will help Coyotito with his sting. Only because he had money know.

Mr.Mayo. I had computer problems and the reading was online so i couldnt do this. I’m doing it know and if you could like just take a little bit off that would be great. THANK YOU

JOHN STEINBACK

1. He says that in Stanford, he was told that the only way to write a good short story, was to write a good short story.

2. I pick Tortise and the Hare. This short story stood out to me because im a slow runner. So it gives me a good message. To go as fast as you can and dont give up. Maybe JUST maybe you will win. (Slow and steady wins the race- in my own words) I also readlly like this story.
